Following the appointment of a new director and management team, and a complete restructure of the service, we are looking for a new team to transform the way we deliver property maintenance in Welwyn Hatfield. We don’t just talk big. Our ambitions are backed by a commitment to invest £150 million in our housing stock over the next five years to improve people’s homes and their energy efficiency.
We want to bring in people who can bring new ideas and energy to the council, with the qualities and experience needed to exceed the expectations of our social housing tenants and other residents, and are passionate about delivering a great customer experience. With a new repairs contractor who started last Autumn, and the procurement of planned maintenance contractors underway, this is an exciting time to come to Welwyn Hatfield.
Located in the heart of Hertfordshire, the borough lies between central London and Cambridge, with easy access to both. It’s an exciting place whose population is the youngest in the county, and one of its most diverse. Home to the University of Hertfordshire and the headquarters of two FTSE 100 companies (Tesco and Ocado) along with other industry leaders in research, science and logistics, its economic potential is huge.
The council owns and maintains 9,500 tenanted homes and has 1,000 leaseholds in management. The wider housing team has an excellent track record in providing for priority housing need, proactively tackling homelessness in the borough, and driving improvement in the private rented housing sector.
